Role Overview
As a Product Owner at Whale TV, you will play a key role in shaping the future of our global TV operating system. You will lead the vision and strategy for your product lines, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver intuitive, high-value experiences to millions of users worldwide. This role combines customer insight, agile leadership, and entrepreneurial thinking to drive impactful product decisions in a fast-moving, international environment. Responsibilities
- Own and drive the vision, goal, and roadmap for assigned product lines, maximizing value delivered to users and business by working within a Scrum team.
- Manage a product backlog, prioritizing features and enhancements with a focus on delivering maximum value.
- Champion scrum and agile practices across the team and organization, raising the agile maturity level and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Collaborate closely with Product Designers, software engineers, QA, and business stakeholders in an international, hybrid-remote environment.
- Engage regularly with customers and users to understand real needs, validate ideas, and guide data-driven product decisions.
- Facilitate sprint plannings, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Communicate product vision, progress, and results effectively throughout the organization, fostering transparency and alignment.
- Work as an entrepreneurial thinker, minimizing waste, seeking the highest value solutions, and ensuring business goals and user outcomes are always aligned.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on product ownership or product management experience in software or digital products.
- Proven track record in applying Agile frameworks (ideally PSPO 1 or higher certificate) and experience with Atlassian software suite (Jira, Confluence)
- Experience with Figma (for UX/UI discussions) and FigJam (for remote agile ceremonies) or similar software and a good grasp of design principles to liaise effectively with Product Designers.
- Technical background, education, or proven interest to liaise effectively with software engineers about architecture, APIs, and system constraints.
- Entrepreneurial mindset: proactive, value-driven, and able to challenge the status quo to maximize user and business value.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluent in English, Chinese language skills are a strong plus.
- Bonus: Prior experience with TV technologies (ideally with DVB tech stacks), or hands-on work in streaming, OTT, or related tech/entertainment domains.
